TOZAOU "mimi Float Shorts"
TOZAOU
We create products that utilize the tailoring we have cultivated in the manufacture of men's clothing, inspired by the important things that make up human life (work, sleep, food, architecture, etc.), memories, and experiences.
"mimi Float Shorts"
A new pair of shorts and slacks with "ears" that resemble side stripes.
Typically, suit-related items are tailored with a lot of ironing and pressing to give them a crisp look, but these shorts are finished without pressing on the cargo pockets, hems, creases, etc.
The pockets look like they have something in them and the seam allowances have not been ironed open, so the shorts look loose and would probably get in trouble if a slacks maker saw them.
The waist is made of elastic and hemp string.
When working at a tailored garment factory, leftover fabric from mass-produced items accumulates. Each factory periodically processes it. Among those fabrics is one with selvedge.
"Mimi" refers to the edging of fabric woven separately to prevent it from fraying, and in the fabric of suits, the manufacturer's name, country of origin, etc. are folded into this part, making it a method of advertising and branding.
So, in contrast to the plain suit fabric, there are fabrics with striking colors and designs. However, in the case of actual suit items, the selvedge is not used and is discarded when cutting.
When I work as a cutter, I find fabrics with color combinations that really appeal to me. However, I feel uncomfortable about throwing them away in the trash, so I started this project with the idea of bringing the "seam" that originally only exists in tailors from fabric manufacturers to the center of my designs.
