Spent my impressionable teenage years during the rise of DC brands, maturing early. The designer explores various fashions and arts. Amidst the dizzying changes of the era, I began to feel a lack of reality in the suit styles that were premised on being tied up. I sought out suit and jacket styles that could be enjoyed more naturally, without being pretentious or forced, and started Pelemele as the embodiment of that. As an antithesis to easy categorizations like dress or casual, I named it "Pelemele," which means "hodgepodge" in French.
"COVERALL JKT"
It is made with the idea that by reducing details as much as possible, I do not want it to be finished as something pushy as a brand. It is an existence that can transform in any way depending on the wearer and the styling of the day, whether like a jacket, a work coverall, or a shirt.
To achieve this, it is designed with:
・A focus on lightness
・Wider body width and hem circumference
・A slightly deeper V-zone
・Longer length
・Slightly wider shoulders
・Deeper armholes
It has been minor-changed since this 26AW; while it was a straight cylinder to the cuffs until 26SS, I added a diagonal stitch often seen on coveralls and made it a one-button functional cuff specification. This tightens it visually and also makes it smoother to roll up when desired.
This material expresses a worn-in, faded look by intentionally fading the color with a special bleach process on shaggy ombre check fabric finished with reactive dyeing. The soft brushed feel from the shaggy process combined with the deep pattern expression unique to ombre checks creates a vintage-like atmosphere.
